My intention had been to capture the reflection of this Egret in the clear waters of the Nile during our felucca ride in Aswan. But the reflection of the flora of the river bank was an unexpected bonus!
This is in response to Ailsa’s invite to her ‘unofficial’ weekly photo challenge. You can browse the other entries here
Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful week ahead!

Good photo. The light is very good.
Thank you Jane. And welcome to my blog. Just took a peek at yours and it looks wonderful! Shall be returning to check it out at leisure.
I try to write interesting articles about Scotland and the North of England.
I used to spend a few weeks in Windsor every year staying with friends but they moved to Edinburgh so I don’t go South very often now.
Should be going to Campbelltown, Inverness, St Andrews, Oban and Inverary in the next few weeks.
What a lovely photo. Truly inspiring!
Bello!
Grazie mille
I will be going next week to an exhibition on Egyptian Mummies in the National Museum of Scotland. Your pictures of Egypt are getting me in the mood!
Admit to being a bit of an Egyptophile
Have loads more pictures, but decided to give Egypt a break for fear of ‘templing out’ my readers!
Beautiful photo, Madhu.
Thank you Naomi
This photograph would be perfect to replicate in a textile format. My mind’s eye is choosing various yarns and thread now. What a perfect shot, Madhu. Beautiful!
Wouldn’t that be lovely! Would you weave that or create a sort of tapestry?
Personally, I would use a fabric background, using a little quilting with bits and pieces of fabric to suit the color requirements, then yarn and thread embroidered on the surface to create the grassy effects. If 10 people were to attempt to replicate your photo with fabric, no doubt, you would have 10 unique wall hangings. The possibilities here are limitless.
Wow! Sounds wonderful!
I have a vivid imagination, Madhu…now if I had the time to create all of the things I’d like to make. Dreaming and doing are two different things, and usually time makes the choice as to what is, and is not, to be.
Some photos just scream ‘subject matter’, and your is one of them!
Glad I triggered your imagination
Ditto.
We just came back from a safari resort in Chitwan where the rooms were named after birds. Egret was one of them. And we didn’t see any Egret there. Just wrote the post yesterday and it’s a coincidence that you posted this today:)
Just waded through that loooong post to check whether you had spotted the elusive cat! Did you? It is my dream to see a tiger in the wild.
As usual Baagh Mama was elusive. I will be writing the jeep Safari experience some time soon. Amazing, amazing experience – in an open jeep without any arms for protection. I don’t know what would have happened had Baagh Mama arrived. Saw other animals and the most thrilling was the canoeing!
Lovely pic, Madhu. We also get egrets around our lake in Florida. I think they’re such elegant birds.
Thanks AD. Yes, Egrets are lovely birds. We saw a loads of other birds on that felucca ride!
just gorgeous madhu, and a perfect day for reflections!
Yes
Thank you for dropping by!

Thank you so much!
Hi,
A fantastic photo, you certainly couldn’t ask for better reflections, really nice.
Glad you think so Mags
Gorgeous, Madhu, egrets are such beautiful creatures, and the reflection is beautiful. Thanks for joining in the challenge. xx
It was entirely my pleasure Ailsa
Glad you like it!
That is a lovely shot!
Thank you Reb
Fabulous catch!!
Thank you! I think the light was just right.
I was wondering if I’d find something of yours in the “unofficial” challenge this week. Very nice.
P.S. Love not having to remember to uncheck the box that fills my inbox! I wish more bloggers would follow suit! Thanks!
Thanks Jeff
Seems like the posts on that subject haven’t done much towards getting rid of that box!
What I’m finding strange is that I’ve come across a few blogs where it hasn’t been checked, very odd. I’m getting a whole lot better a remembering to uncheck that rotten little box when I leave a comment too
Nile? Wow! The reflection is so beautiful.
Thanks Amy. This was taken during our felucca ride on the Nile in Aswan. Have you seen my earlier posts on the Nubian landscape of Aswan and the one on Nile sunsets?
I have seen some of your Egypt travel photos, will take a look of the Nile sunsets.
Great shot Madhu. It’s mesmerizing because if you look at it long enough you begin to question which is the reflection. Thanks for sharing it. -Max-
Thanks Max. I am happy with it too for a change
Upgrading to an entry level DSLR this week. Lets see whether my photo skills will improve!

Thank you DJ
Beautiful pic! I love Egrets. There are two at a lake in our neighborhood, but the only times I see them are when I’m jogging and don’t have a camera. I have gone back and looked for them, but no luck.
Maybe someday…
