A milestone birthday – my father in law’s 90th – a weekend with family, and time spent on researching our next travel destination, have all affected my posting schedules and my blog reading. Please bear with me while I catch up with your posts and comments.
And while I reflect on the juggling skills required to appease this time guzzling monster that I have created, I leave you with these reflections from two Beijing locations
Do check out Jake’s awesome animations and other reflections here
Until next time…….happy travels no matter where life takes you!

Beautiful choice of photos, Madhu. Happy 90th! Where to next?
My father in law’s 90th actually
First to Japan with my sister in October and then Cambodia and Laos in Dec. Thanks Naomi.
I “hate” you!
Happy belated birthday to your father in law!
That sounds fantastic! I have never been to Asia, but would love to go some day. I’m curious, Madhu–will you go by organized tour, or will you try to travel on your own? I think I could get by with my high school Latin and college French in most European countries, but when you can’t even read the alphabet, it is more intimidating.
R & I are doing Cambodia, Laos and Bangkok on our own.
) women. Not the way I like to travel, but my sister persuaded me to join her and the itinerary and price seemed attractive. R actually urged me to go, since he isn’t too keen on visiting Japan for some reason. Keeping my fingers crossed
The Japan trip is going to be an escorted tour with a small group of (menopausal
What a wonderful season of traveling you have to look forward to! And I will be looking forward to reading all about it in your blog. I am so glad that you and your sister get to travel together. Next autumn my sister and I are going to start in France and end up in Romania, if all goes according to plan.
Happy birthday to your in law’s! Lots to celebrate for his 90th birthday. Thank you for finding time to post and visit us. Beautiful reflections!
Thank you Amy
He is a remarkable, fiercely independent and erudite man and I am sometimes envious of his simplicity and lack of desires and his HUGE network of friends!
Perfect interpretation for this week topic Madhu, Excellent shot thanks for sharing
Thank you Jake
Wonderful reflections that are full of color.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Thank you Francine
How do I always end up looking at your amazing photos?! Lol did you go to these places?
I am glad you do
Yes, we went to China in 2009. Appreciate your visit and comment.
90 years! I can only hope to one day have as many worthwhile experiences in old age..
Oh no I am not 90, yet! Not even close….although I have no doubt it will seem like the blink of an eye when, and if, I do get there
Sorry, I had a feeling it was going to come across that way.. it is your father-in law correct?
Lovely reflections, Isadora!!!
Oops! Do you have more than one tag open Marina?
Just gorgeous, Madhu. Lovely to see the water gardens looking so bright and summery.
I’m a little envious of you and your sister being in Japan for the fall – those minimalist gardens must be awesome with the injection of patches of colour.
Thank you. I am looking forward to Japan, but for the first time I haven’t done the extensive research that usually goes into planning one of our trips. Will have to do some reading up, before I leave.
I guess that’s the difference between researching and planning your itinerary, and being presented with an itinerary. Everything will seem back-to-front, I think, Madhu.
Yes, and I am wary of that.I hate being rushed
Ummm – it’s going to be a different experience for you, that’s for sure. Perhaps you could think of it as a magical mystery tour with your sister and just leap in feet first and see what you can get out of each tableau as it’s presented to you?
That is a nice way of looking at it
I just might enjoy being led by the nose for a change!
Well … I’m not mad keen on the image of you with the nose ring, but I can see you doing “surprise me”
Wonderful reflection photos, Madhu. Congrats to your father-in-law. A great achievement indeed. Love your very apt description of blogging.
Thank you AD. I was a bit overwhelmed when I wrote that
Have got it almost under control now, I think.
Beijing is so colourful!
It is Paula. But I somehow preferred the smaller cities to the sanitised capital!
I can relate to that Madhu, in most countries I feel the same
Why do we do it, Madhu? Because we love it!
Japan- I am green!!!
Of course! And I do love it. And am learning to handle it better, hopefully.
Sorry I can’t take you with me to Japan
I love the reflections in the water… and we do it anyway.
Yes Eliz, and we love doing it
Thank you for your continued support.
where you goin’? where you goin’?
Japan in about two and a half weeks, and then Laos and Cambodia in Dec
Ooooh I see lots of new pix and narrative in the future. Have a great trip. I’ve been to neither so will be counting on you to educate me.
Beautiful reflections! Madhu, I hope you keep blogging until you turn 90 and then some more!
If my mind doesn’t desert me Shaantz
Thank you so much.
Happy Birthday to your father-in-law. Madhu, I hope you all had a wonderful celebration. I love the photos – especially the one on top. It has such a calm, serene feel.
Thank you Judy. Yes we had a lovely celebration in his honour
We all get so sucked into different tasks and commitments at times that blogging takes a backseat! Case in point- moi. Happy 90th to your father-in-law. That is a really big milestone!!
Thank you Meenakshi. I always admire young mothers like you who juggle so many things!
Congratulation to Your father-in-law of 90th birthday. Photos, they are so great.
Thank you Sartenada, shall pass on your good wishes
I’m with R on Japan, it doesn’t appeal. But Cambodia and Laos! I’m the colour of princess Fiona! can you smuggle me your suitcase?
Congrats to your father in law on his 90th, such an amazing age, I bet he has some stories to tell, he would have been 25 in1947 – wow!
Wish I could take you all with me Gilly. Perhaps i should organise a bloggers meet somewhere exotic! Wouldn’t that be lovely?
Yes, my father in law is a remarkable erudite man and has many stories about his life as a forest officer from pre independence days.
My fave has got to be the first one!
Thank you, mine too
Sending a big Happy Birthday hug to the birthday boy! Ninety is a milestone. Reflections are my very favorite images. I love these, Madhu!
