A tough one this week. And these are the best I could come up with:
The first is from Beijing, China – the rooftops of the Summer Palace and Kunming lake beyond, viewed from the ‘Tower Of The Fragrance Of The Buddha‘ on ‘Longevity hill’. (Some of you may remember that I accidentally deleted the far nicer roof top view of the Forbidden city, taken on a rare, fog free day
)
I think this second image of a stone lantern from the Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima – Japan, is considerably enhanced by the presence of the Goju -no-to Pagoda and its reflection in the background.
Thank you for visiting……….have a great weekend

I like the view from the rooftop. I can imagine the view for many miles.
It doesn’t seem like you found it difficult at all! I love the symmetry of the first one
Both are very beautiful shots, Madhu. One pulls you in, the other sends the eyes out. I couldn’t pick a favorite.
I like best the japanise one, maybe because of the water in first plane or because of the simbolic lantern… I don’t know exactly. Both of them, as Naomi said, are special!

I haven’t been to Beijing since very long time… but in the ’90is there was still a lot of fog (pollution) even if the street were crowded with bicycles
Have a lovely sunday
Magical views Madhu, and I quite like the mist!
Beautiful photos…love the view from the first one
Great photos! -Max-
Nice, funny but I also thought your masthead picture would make a great ‘Beyond’.
Nice, Madhu!
both gorgeous Madhu…the first just keeps pulling you right out the that ship…
These are gorgeous photos, Madhu!

You deleted one???????
The Beijing rooftops is such a pleasing composition! What a tragedy to lose a perfect shot ~ Kat
oh bummer, to delete an image! but the first one above is a lovely capture – almost surreal. the reflections in the second are beautiful, too. thanks for sharing.
These are both beautiful, in different ways, both excellent interpretations of the theme!
Lovely!!! I like so much the first pic…Beyond are the ancient mankind memories of adventures, old and lost cities…
stunning photos! rooftops and pagodas so amazing,
so peaceful: the Kunming lake beyond!
The fog/smog of your summer palace photo just adds to the ambience! Lovely.
Wonderful shots!!!
Looks perfect to me!
Yes I thought it was quite a tough ask, but you pulled it off beautifully. Where to next, I’m wondering?
Not sure Jo. Looks like the Paris plans (for my 55th by the way
) with my daughter and younger sister is not happening. In which case R & I just might go somewhere further…Mexico perhaps? or Cuba? Have had our fill of temples and pagodas
When’s the birthday? Canada maybe, or Argentina. Oh, don’t get me excited!

Nice photos. Asian architecture is for me as a european very interesting. It looks so mystical anyhow.
One word comes to my mind – peaceful!
I love the architectural flare of the pagoda .
Accidentally deleting a nice photo is truly a bummer. It feels like losing one of a pair of nice earrings.
I love both of your shots… brings back memories too.
