Weekly Photo Challenge: Today
Chennai is infamous for its sweltering heat.ย R says we have three seasons – hot, hotter and hell! Today’s readings will confirm that we are right in the middle of hell!
Thanking my stars I don’t live in Nagpur ๐ฎ
Check out more entries here
Thank you for visiting and have a great day!
I like R’s weather wording ๐
Yes, he sees humour in the strangest things ๐
Poor Madhu! I just wilt in hot weather. Capturing the weather on TV was actually a very clever way to share your day! I hope you have air conditioning!
Even in my kitchen….wouldn’t survive without it! And the TV shot was all I could think of at this late hour ๐
It was a very cute idea–made me smile.
Ohhh Madhu, I do not envy you that heat! Being Canadian I’m just not wired that way! I’d be hot sweaty listless and grumpy
I am all of that without being Canadian ๐
It is awful all of May and just slightly better after! The locals go into raptures over the (non existent) winters – you may even spot woolen caps and sweaters!!!
I know ! When we were in Rabat in Morocco it was October and palace guards had changed to their winter dress – it was a cool 30-ishC! (90-ishF)
thats a bit warm Madhu hope you get some relief #thatshot haha
Hot is an understatement! It usually gets better in June, but only marginally. Thanks for the sympathy Jim ๐

Great post. I would absolutely melt in that heat.
We are made of sterner stuff I guess ๐ In fact my daughter, who lives in Bangalore, thinks I have no business complaining about the heat there!
Oh my goodness! For two reasons. One, that is really hot, and two, I have an hour and a half left to decide on my photo of Today…:)
Yours was pretty cool ๐
Madhu: That is insanely hot!!!! Wow! It gets like that in Arizona if not hotter (where my parents live) but it is a dry heat. It is hot yet bearable somewhat. Is it humid there and hot? To someone like me who lives in the north that sounds pretty brutal but then again that is what most people say about our cold, cold winters!!!! ๐ Stay cool!
Awfully humid! We need to shower several times a day!
But I think I prefer the heat to extreme cold! Bangalore, where my daughter lives was 33 last week, but I kept turning off the airconditioner at night much to the grandkids’ irritation!
Perth’s summer too – though it does dip down below 30 of a night – between 20 – 25, though last summer was blech. I empthasise
Thanks ๐ Had no idea Perth was that bad.
39 is actually kind weather! The mercury usually crosses 45 for a few days mid May!
Love it Madhu! We’re going to hit 46 tomorrow. Ugh… ๐
Yikes! Does that last long? 45 is the worst we have seen here I think, and that too for a few days. You do have cold winters though don’t you?

And i am melting in 47degree of hot hell in U.P
summer is cruel this year
i dont know which one is worse the humid coastal climate where you are steamed or the dry heat of north where you get roasted
47 sounds baaad! I have no business complaining. Dry heat is suffocating and gives me nose bleeds. I find the humid climate of the coast far healthier even if yucky

Smart move Madhu! ๐ That is the best shot and good for you that you are not in the heatwave either! ๐
Thanks Elizabeth ๐
LOL! Know the feeling. We lived in a place like that here in South Africa, called Upington. Lovely post Madhu. ๐
Thank you Sonel. Was missing your hugs ๐

I really like you post, it’s a good one… ๐
In Denmark we had once a famous humorous man – he named Robert Storm Petersen – he was writer, painter, actor and a lot more – he once said (about 100 years ago): “Alle taler om vejret, men ingen gรธr noget ved det” which means “Everyone talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it” – and he’s right… ‘big smile’
Thanks Ledrake. Robert Storm Peterson was right of course ๐ We just help make things worse.
Madhu, I’m surprised that Nagpur is the warmest – I would have thought it was somewhere in Andhra or Bidar/Gulbarga in Karnataka. Stay cool…
I know! Soma, above, says it is 47C in UP. And i know interior Andhra can be a furnace in Summer. Also the desert regions. Nagpur probably recorded the highest rise in temperature perhaps?
Wonderful device for the challenge Madhu (how you did it is beyond me!) Glad to see you weren’t in hell today – we were at the bottom of the jacuzi – pure liquid air since the sun came up – only breaking now!
Glad you liked it! Wasn’t difficult at all, just aimed my camera at the screen and clicked ๐ Had to crop the edges a bit. Caught it just as the channel logo was changing, so that seems a bit blurred.
We could do with some of that liquid air! Slated to break on schedule across the west coast this week. Hope we get some spillovers.
I’ll cross my fingers for you!
You just took a photograph? I was imagining some technical screenshot thingy .. But now you mention the Nagpur thingy I can see the screen wasn’t static.

Good one, but yikes, that’s hot – and humid also. The high humidity with high heat like that makes it unbearable for me. I live in a dry heat area.
Thanks Fergiemoto. Yes that’s hot. We live on the top floor and entering the house after it has been kept shut for a few hours is like entering an oven!
Anything above 28ยฐC is uncomfortable for me. I hope you have a lot of ice.
Yes lots, and our airconditioners work overtime ๐ Thanks for dropping by Gobetween,
When all else fails, talk about the weather. ๐ LOL
LOL! Couldn’t think of anything else at 11pm ๐
Passing through Chennai for about 30 hours later today (sunday) and tomorrow on a very last minute change of plan. Never been there before. What should the heat NOT stop me seeing/visiting/photographing? Many thanks for your thoughts
Very little! And tough to answer without knowing what your interests are.
Santhome Church, St Thomas Mount, the Marina beach (very early or late evening), a few colonial buildings on the beach road. The shore temple in Mahabalipuram is one of the biggest attractions, but might be tough in this heat. It is about an hour and a half by road and closes at 5.30 pm. The Mylapore temple area is kind of atmospheric, if you don’t mind big crowds. Just don’t go out in the afternoon sun or you will prove Noel Coward right ๐
Thanks for the reply and suggestions Madhu. I shall be interested to see where ‘the urge to wander’ takes me and thanks for the advice – I shall be watching out for those mad dogs!
๐
Boy, that’s scorching hot, but it isn’t humid heat right? Hang on in there!
Yes it is and VERY humid! AND a 2 hour power shedding to boot. Our building has generator backup thankfully. Counting my blessings again!
Excellent work Madhu ๐
Thank you Jake.
46.6?!? That’s insane!
Only 39 where I live! The 46.6 does make me feel better in a perverse way ๐
We had 13 here today. In other words: a typical Norwegian summer. Last weekend 25-28, this weekend 13.
That is a huge drop! So envious!
“…hot, hotter and hell” – that’s clever ๐
Almost a noem?
Most definitely a noem ๐

Oh, wow. There is a weather compared to hell? Must be scorching. Houston is in the 90’s. Hotter than usual but can be fix with a quick jump to the pool or a cold shower. And yes, people are swarming at the beach despite of the heat. I guess we just love the sun and Summer.
Felt like we were there, until I saw that insane 46.6 ๐ Appreciate your stopping by to comment.
It fits the theme perfectly! What a brilliant idea!
Thanks Amy ๐
I can’t even imagine a weather map with 45 degrees on it. I grew up in northern Canada where it snowed in May and 20 was a hot day. After the winter, when it finally got up to zero degrees, people would be out in short sleeves.
I can well understand your reaction ๐ And that is quite like how we would feel about extreme cold. The mugginess is far worse than the heat though. Appreciate the visit and comment Stuart. Just popped over to your blog and got drawn into that fascinating story of the woman in blue!
