Travel Theme: Oceans

Ailsa’s Travel Theme this week to mark World Oceans Day, highlights the urgent need to protect our marine environment. It goes without saying that the oceans that cover more than 70% of the earth’s surface, are home to more than 80 % of all life on this planet, provide more than 60% of our food and energy, generate half our oxygen and control weather patterns across the globe, are vital for the survival of our species and all other life forms.

According to the United Nations ” The official designation of World Oceans Day is an opportunity to raise global awareness of the current challenges faced by the international community in connection with the oceans.”

We know what we need to do in our hearts, we are informed practically every day by the media. But it merits repeating, considering our diminished memories when it comes to our environment. Here is a list of ten things we can do while governments try to get their act together.
