The Sunday Post: Famous Movies
“Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade”
The third highest grossing of the Indiana Jones series in North America, “Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade” was shot all over the world, starting in Moab- Utah, and then Almeira – Spain, Venice – Italy, Elstree Studios (George Lucas’s adopted home base) in England and finally in Petra – Jordan.
The closing scene supposed to be the ‘Canyon of the Crescent Moon’, in Iskenderun, was not shot in Turkey at all, but in Jordan! The temple of the Grail is in actual fact the Al Khazneh, or ‘Treasury’ in the Nabatean pink city of Petra. Our (very) handsome guide Abdullah, who worked for the unit during the shoot, could have easily passed for a Hollywood heartthrob in his trendy jeans and crisp white keffiyeh 🙂
