The year that dawned for us with a magical sunrise over Bagan, has reneged on its promise.
We have spent the past several months in and out of hospital ICUs. My remarkable 95 year old father-in-law has miraculously pulled through. But my brother, a victim of Alzheimer’s, succumbed to an infection last month. Three weeks to the day, my handsome, health-conscious brother-in-law went under the knife for a perforated intestine and is battling for his life in another intensive care unit! My sister and he, having suffered much tragedy in their lives, are classic subjects for a study of “why bad things happen to good people”. He’s just got to make it out of there somehow.
While our family isn’t exactly in a thankful frame of mind, I am immensely grateful for the overwhelming love and concern of friends. And for you, my ever supportive readers. Thank you for sticking with me through my continued absence.
I’ll be back…….just not sure when.
In the meantime, happy holidays!
Update 31/05/2017: My brother in law is finally home after four long months in intensive care, but still dependent on a portable ventilator. We are hopeful that he will soon be weaned off it and manage with oxygen.
Thank you all very much for your messages and good wishes. Much appreciated.
