My World In Five Colours

I was nominated a while ago by James from Plus Ultra and Jennifer from My Sardinian Life for the Capture the Colour photo competition run by The rules entail that I publish a post with five original shots from my travels, each one representing the colours blue, green, yellow, white and red. I then need to tag five other bloggers and link back to TravelSupermarket on Facebook or Twitter (with the tags @travelsupermkt and #capturethecolour).

So here are the snapshots of my world in five colours:

Thermal springs - Pammukale, Turkey

The contrast of the dazzling white travertine terraces with these deep turquoise thermal pools is nothing short of breathtaking. The ‘Pammukale’ or ‘cotton castles’ are formed by deposits of carbonate minerals from the hot springs reputed to have therapeutic properties.

Camel Crossing

A camel crossing!! We came upon this sign on the desert highway leading from Wadi Rum to Amman and just HAD to stop for photos.

Monks Texting

Can you separate teenagers from their mobile phones? I guess not…not even these pious monks oblivious to the hordes of tourists in the Lingyin temple 🙂 The light in this intimate scene grabbed my attention.

Man with turban

It was sweltering outside in the midday heat, yet we lingered hoping for a clear shot once the large tour group ahead of us entered the temple. The Egyptian man suddenly walked into the frame, his white turban in stark contrast against the earthy tones!

Machu Picchu

What can I say about this tranquil scene of grazing llamas in the magical ruins of the Inca citadel? We were delighted that the terraces were still green in mid October.

This challenge is open to everyone – you don’t need to be nominated to take part. The deadline for submitting your entry is August 29th.

If you don’t have a Facebook or Twitter account simply email your entry to capturethecolour[at], complete with your name, address and phone number.

Good luck to evryone taking part in this challenge!
