  1. Dance can express so many emotions and also can be used when language is a barrier to communication. It is very similar to music in this. There’s also different types of dance such as ballet, Hip Hop, Scottish Highland, ballroom, disco etc which all appeal to a particular audience.

    Up until a few years ago the Edinburgh International Festival used to have a parade through Princes Street and The Mound in the city centre with the various artists at the festival in August. Many of them danced through the streets and there was a carnival atmosphere. I enjoyed it very much. The spectators also joined in. The Japanese dancers were fabulous.

    Cut-backs have suspended this for now, but hopefully it will resume in the next few years.
