And certainly not under the harmless old wives tale category, considering the number of creatures that have had to give up their lives for someone’s imagined increase in libido. R was informed by our boatman, that the contents of one of the jars was elephant penis!

It just makes me chuckle –what men won’t do to try to be young and virile. If I knew my man was partaking of something like this, it would completely turn me off and make the contents irrelevant.

Yes, shame on these people with their superstitions and beliefs Madhu. It always makes me sad to see images like this where these poor animals have to give up their lives because humans think they have ‘magic properties’. Great shots though and thanks for sharing hon. 😀 *big hugs*
talking of lesser evil, better to drink this wine (if you have to) than drinking copi luwak (of Indonesia) which i hear is ridiculously expensive but is prepared from the seeds that come from the other end of a cat! Yuk. as for the lives of these poor creatures, they die any way and now they should thank for preservation of their corps.

Let’s hope the next generation in SE Asia comes to realize that our world will be a much poorer place without elephants, rhinos, tigers and others. The only hope for these animals is a new way of thinking in that part of the world.

Sad that these and other animal parts (rhinoceros horn, elephant tusk) are considered to have aphrodisiac properties. You’d nowadays people would know better…

I think visiting other countries is so interesting. Vietnam has some spectacular scenery and interesting food. I think I’ll give those bottled tasty’s a pass though. The EP would be one tough meal and would need a powerful curry.

Definitely inside pics, Madhu. We were offered snake wine on board our Li River cruise. I declined, but some of the braver passengers did try it. 🙂
