To me, Venice is in itself a work of art.
Today, I showcase some delightful window displays from the magical city…from chocolate art to carnivale masks. All but the first, shot through glass. Hope you like them as much I did discovering them.

The Urge To Wander 
They are exquisitely beautiful, especially the masks. As for the chocolates – I think it is utterly wrong to turn them into little visual arts. How could anyone eat them without guilt now? (ooop, as if, chocolate can be eaten without guilt, just sayin’.) 🙂
It was closing time when I got there and I never went back, so I can’t really vouch for the taste…..but I agree, it is hard to bite into ‘art’ 🙂
The mask is quite eye catching.
Isn’t it? There were hundreds of mask shops, but this one was one of the classier ones.

Beautiful pictures highlighting the inspiring skills of Venezia 🙂 I remember the short boat ride to see the ancient Murano glassware made on the Venetian Island of Murano.

Thank you Dilip. I still have a vase from Murano from our visit decades ago. Sadly one has to be careful to check for the Made in Murano marking when picking up a piece today, for the shops are flooded with cheap Chinese made glass!

Ahh those masks, I saw them in Sicily, Did you buy one? And the chocolate, I would probably keep it until I had a desperate craving than eat it in one hit!
No Gilly, I just picked up two little glass wine stoppers. I didn’t taste any chocolate from this shop either since it was closed, but I did get to a fantastic atelier that I have no pictures of because i was drooling over his stuff or eating or both and just forgot!! 🙂

Yes, around 4 hours by train… which is the simplest way to get there… Pity indeed that we didn’t have the chance to meet in Venice! Big hugs :-)claudine
I’d have taken out a second mortgage & bought them all!
I would have done the same a few years ago Dallas 🙂 Now we are on a ‘de-cluttering’ spree, so we have stopped shopping on our travels except for a CD or two of local music!
I am agog, staring at the masks with lust in my heart. Beautiful. I was taken immediately by the lamps though, I have always loved these types of lamps for some reason and my mind immediately slipped to the glassblowers of Venice. As for the chocolate, it may be art, but only till I bite it, my love of chocolate will always win. Thank you once again for your wonderful contribution to my vicarious life through you! 🙂
The glass lamps are my favourites. And I am the same with chocolate, although in my experience the artfully sculpted ones aren’t always the finest in taste. Thank you for your lovely comment Valentine 🙂

This is window shopping at its finest, Madhu! And I’m blown away by the sheer detail of those chocolate masterpieces… I doubt that I would ever have the heart to consume and gobble them up!
