Grey. That most neutral of colours. Detached, disengaged, doubtful.
Neither white nor black. Day nor night. The morning mist. The shadowy veil of twilight. The dismal pall of winter fog. The ghostly whispers of memories. The colour of wisdom and truth. Of life.
Presenting a gallery of greys from around the world.
Life is not in black and white, it has many shades, and there is a space between these two colours, and grey is what bridges these gaps…there is a philosophy in this colour of grey. Very true it is the colour of wisdom and truth of life…
A fabulous gallery of photos, wonderfully captured and beautifully presented…
Nihar, thank you very much 🙂
Obviously, there is much beauty in gray. Great collection!!!!
Beautiful collection from all over the world! 🙂
Glad you enjoyed my gallery Jithin. Have a great week.
My pleasure 🙂 You too have a great week ahead
Beautifully captured pictures, Madhu! Love the grey!
Thank you Sandhya. Gla you do 🙂
Beautiful slide show/series. There is such beauty in the color grey.
There is. I am a new convert from beige to grey 🙂 Thank you Angeline.
wonderful take on gray – dreary or beautiful – so true – and love the pics 🙂
Thank you for reading Yvette. Have a great day 🙂
Wonderful gallery of greys, Madhu. I love them all, but the Ellies and the old lady in Paris will stay in my memory . 🙂
Thank you Sylvia. The shot of the old lady in Paris is a personal favourite of mine.
I like grey, it’s far from dull in my eyes!
I do too Gilly. I think it is a perfect base for sharp accents.
My partner and I were talking about grey last night. He mourns the loss of his passionate, youthful black and white thinking, but for me, ever the voice of reason, I see grey as mature, thoughtful and wise. Truthfully, the whole world is in the grey area…
Absolutely. But I think men find it harder to accept. Just a Mars/Venus thing 😀
Well done…
Thanks Sally 🙂
or: the beauty of grey!!! Great collection, Madhu! 🙂
Thank you dear Marina. Hope your has begun well 🙂
A beautiful gallery of silvers Madhu!
Thank you very much Patti.
silver, of course. which reminds me of something i read on a card in a gift shop long ago: when it comes to our hair, it may turn silver, but never grey. or something like that 🙂
I enjoyed looking at your pictures on a grey day Madhu. Brought a little colour (pleasure) into my life 🙂
Ha, you must have no dearth of grey during this season 🙂
You are so right 🙂
oh, that mist makes for gorgeous photos!
Thank you Annie. Driving through the forest on those misty mornings was truly magical.
I always think of gray as so depressing and drab, Madhu, but these photos are wonderful. It is a color so often found in nature, and in the earth and in man’s creations, isn’t it?
It is Cathy. It is my favourite colour of late. Hubby drew the line at a funky concrete floor for our apartment 🙂
Beautiful. I love the one from Bayon. That was my favorite of the Angkor temples.
Thanks David. Bayon was the most striking. My favourite was Preah Khan though.. Haven’t featured it yet, except for a few odd photos. Don’t ask me why 🙂
That whole area is so unforgettable. I really want to go back sometime.
I’m a secret admirer of grey color. 🙂 It’s an underrated color. Very happy to have recognized each and every pictures.
Very underrated indeed Rommel. I am happy too that you could recognise every one of my photos 🙂 I thought your desert sculpture series was outstanding.
Nice shots, despite grey being not a very popular shade. 🙂
Thanks Niranjan. Grey certainly isn’t popular for flooring or furnishing here in India. Beige seems to be the preferred option, and it was a task finding suitable material in grey tones for our apartment.
Nice collection of photos there, and the langurs fit in perfectly with their natural fur 😉 For me, grey means mist or fog. And some of the best places in Asia can be enhanced with a lining of “grey”. Some of the Vietnamese or Thai mountains shrouded in “grey” provide ample photo opportunity as well as giving an ethereal atmosphere.
Thanks Lee. I haven’t been been to Vietnam or Thailand (beyond Bangkok). Need to remedy that soon.
Always Madhu, you bring forward the beauty of our world, even in the shadings of grey the color that lies between.
Thank you Valentine. My pleasure always to see you here 🙂
A quick tour of the world sprinkled with gray….
Thanks dear Madhu! 🙂 claudine
Yes! And thank you for your company dear Claudine 🙂
But your grays all have color! They are imbued with color, they are not GRAY in the manner we usually speak of it. They are mysterious or solid or backgrounds to color or reflectors of color. Anything but dull, anything but drab or boring. The photo of Varanasi knocks me out.
Dawn on the Ganges is special Judith. Even when the sun is obscured by clouds like in that photo. But to me grey is always beautiful.
Gorgeous shots!
Btw I love grey 🙂
Me too! Thanks Sid. 🙂
who knew that grey was such a vibrant colour. some lovely images here. my favourites are the elephants 🙂
Thank you for reading Chris. Have a great day 🙂
What delicious greys these are, Madhu! Some of them barely qualify 🙂 🙂 I especially love that head, followed by the deer in the mist. Stunning! 🙂
Are you caught up yet? It’s never ending, isn’t it? Any plans afoot for Christmas?
Never ending Jo! Nothing much happening in December apart from visits with family in Bangalore. We are planning a short break with friends mid Jan. Still debating the destination 🙂 Will you be home for Christmas?
Thanks for the return visit, Madhu 🙂 🙂 Yes, home at Christmas. Nothing planned till 1st Feb in the Algarve. Spring!!!
Beautiful shots Madhu. Especially those from your Africa trip 🙂
Thank you Uday. Still busy? Have been wondering about the silence on your blog.
Really great post Madhu. Isn’t it interesting that sometimes the most subdued thing can in the right situation be the most impressive. Thank you for sharing it. Take care. -Max-
You too. Thank you Max.
Your greys are much more beautiful the the grey skies up here now…
I’ve never been a big fan of grey but you have managed to make it captivating. Thank you!
Great photos gallery! Amazing pictures you have captured!
Rather belated thanks Indah! 🙂
Two of these photographs are on my TS page on the subsection with participants gallery :). The one that caught my eye here now is the head sculpture from India!
Paula, I am just putting together a post that I meant to link to your Thursday special, but the dang video refused to upload 😦 One last try tonight before I sleep.
Please don’t lose sleep over it. I will be happy for you to link when you can. Thank you kindly, Madhu. I am happy and honoured 🙂
Thanks Paula. Nearly done….I think! 🙂
… then there are elephants, clouds in Tanzania and old lady in Paris, and then the rest of the pics with every one among them exquisite.
Wow! I’m seeing the colour grey in a new light! Beautiful pictures 🙂
A beautiful collection of grey for us to feast our eyes on. Great selection …
Beautiful pictures for me the Varanasi Dawn with the reflection of the sun tops this collection. Thanks Madhu.
