The World Through My Eyes?

Considering my blog is about the world through my eyes, this week’s challenge should have been a cakewalk. But it wasn’t strangely. I found it hard zeroing in on a single image that as per Cheri’s specs. ” ……shows a command of your frame. Lead our eyes somewhere. Make us focus on something“.

So I stopped to think of what ‘The World’ means to me and whether my images convey my feelings.

Is it the contemplation of this buzzing, multifaceted urban scene viewed from our perch on the sky-walk above Siam Square night market? (Click on the image to view all the details)

Siam Street Night Market - Bangkok, Thailand

Or this, my favourite shot from the Damnoen Saduak floating market near Bangkok? Cheri did mention light and frame…..

Floating Market , Bangkok

Is it this father-daughter duo enjoying a moment’s respite in Central Square, Bangkok, while a little one napped in his stroller……..

this family walking hand in hand into Patuxai, in Vientiane……..

or this group of friends hanging out in Gion, Kyoto?

At least one thing is certain at the end of this exercise……I am an urban creature, however much I crib about chaos and pollution. And ‘my world’ features people.

And then there are these two that ‘mean’ the world to me………

The little musical prodigy (a grandmother’s unbiased opinion), the photographer, the nerd……

…….and his brother, the world cup aspirant and unwavering Arsenal loyalist!

As you can see I have taken the easy way out……I am letting you decide 🙂

Until next time……..happy travels, no matter where life takes you.

And remember there is a whole wide world out there waiting for you.

  1. That is so true, and I noticed it since. You take pictures of people like it’s your business (that sounds like I mean something else, bwahahah). But yeah, it’s true. Well, for anything, you always give their portraits justice. You’re people pictures alway have substance. The words you convey with your people pictures are always powerful. And you just put so much life to their images. Your people pictures are always my favorites.

  2. You just gave us a glimpse of your external/physical world and your emotional world. I think wherever those two are is your world. Yay! I think I gave a muddied answer. 🙂

  3. I love the pix’s you ‘ve used for the challenge. I like that they are different from what I’ve seen others post. It’s what makes photography unique. Everyone has a very different eye. Great post, Madhu.

p.s. the grandsons look like they are having a fun time – each in his own way. ~~~~ : – )

  4. All are fantastic images, Madhu. No wonder that you have the ‘urge to wander’, but you always return to your beloved family. 🙂

  5. The world through your eyes is full of life, hope and optimism my friend. It’s about celebrating the gifts of the present, of family and friends, of the places that inspired your heart. My favorite are the photographer and the soccer player. They are the hope of the future…

  6. I’ve never made it to Thailand while in Asia, but that photo of the floating market makes me feel as though I missed out! Here’s to second chances soon!

  7. My choice might vary depending on the day, but I do prefer shots with people in them. So your grandchildren … and the one of the father and daughter enjoying a respite in Bangkok would be my choices. Thank goodness I’m not one of the judges who would have to narrow the selection down to one.

  8. It is always such a pleasure to see the world through your eyes Madhu and what a lovely and touching collection of what it means to you. Your grandsons are gorgeous!

  9. it is always a great joy to see the world through your eyes madhu, love the floating market shot, and those gorgeous grandsons 😀

  10. This is a challenge that is challenging because there are almost limitless choices, choices that would probably vary from day to day. You choices are all love but I see you have your priorities straight as to which are the most important. 🙂

  11. Beautiful, busy and colourful indeed Madhu! Stunning shots as usual hon and thanks for the share. Loved it! 😀 *hugs*

  12. Your images are all so stunning Madhu that I will not even try to decide. I think the images of your grandsons put the biggest smile on my face. 🙂

  13. Another vote for the floating market, Madhu. Glad to see that whatever life’s problems, your boys are still shining stars. (Arsenal???) 🙂

    1. Yes Arsenal!! He can’t be accused of disloyalty despite the younger brother’s constant taunts 😀
That boat shot is a personal favourite Jo. Glad you enjoyed it too 🙂

      1. You need to come to Scotland. When you do let me know and I’ll tell you where to go and can even take you round myself.

Please just don’t wear the tartan stuff they sell in Edinburgh. That’s the reserve of American tourists!

  14. I never know which of your pictures not to choose. I want to pick all. But your grandchildren take the cake! Love them absolutely the best!

  15. Ah, Madhu – you’ve negotiated the challenge adroitly, though I love the floating market – light and frame, as you say, and the sheer vibrancy of the scene – exotic and mundane, the stuff of travellers dreams! The boys, well, that’s another matter, and the photographs are really terrific portraits of your precious youngsters. Brava 🙂

  16. I found this challenge difficult as well. Hard to pick which photos to use. You made some excellent choices. I like the boat one as well. You always give us a wonderful view of the world through your eyes.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!

  17. i loved the floating market, the perspective, the concept… and i loved your vantage point of the family/shadows walking hand in hand… and of course i loved the contrast of the two precious lads absorbed in their loves.

  18. That is a tough one, Madhu dear – I agree.

It set me thinking and I too took the easy way out – as a non photographer, of course.

For me, my world is my wife and my children – then, it expands from that core.

    Peace and blessings,
    Eric

    1. That’s why the distinction between what ‘the world’ means and what ‘means’ the world to me 🙂 Good to see you here Eric. Can’t wait to catch up with Daniel 🙂

      1. I missed that distinction, Madhu dear – and so right, you are. Thank you for pointing out 🙂

Daniel comes on in a couple of hours – hope he does not disappoint.

        Cheers,
        Eric

  19. Brilliant choices …. I struggle this time with the challenge – because every photo we take is the world through our eye. The boat photo is my favorite here.

    1. Thanks Janaline. I bet you have loads of images from Santiago that would fit the challenge. Shall drop in to catch up soon 🙂
