The Ispahan
No, not the city in Iran or the Damask rose.
This is a concoction of fragrant rose cream with chopped litchis and luscious, whole raspberries, sandwiched between two crunchy, startling pink macaron shells. And topped with a single raspberry and a velvety rose petal, complete with a glistening sugar dewdrop.
Enjoyed in the Place Saint Sulpice across the road………bliss!!
(And I don’t even like rose flavoured desserts!)
Pierre Hermé, is called the “Picasso of patissiers” for a reason.
it looks so colorful 🙂
Exquisite presentation! The raspberries have me wanting to head to the fresh market now… 🙂
YUMMY … delicious looking. I don’t even eat or like sweets but I might have tried this. ~~~~ : – )
Just scrumptious, and what colour, wow! And you ate it alfresco? Even better, I think 🙂
it looks so delicious Madhu…so happy you got to enjoy it and share it with us
Looks mouth-watering and ALMOST too pretty to eat. 🙂
And I got fat on croissant, pain au chocolat and quiche – silly me :D. Next time, I won’t make the same mistake – I will be eating roses :). Wonderful masterpiece, Madhu 🙂
looks yummy…i love lychees 🙂
I’m fond of desserts Madhu. Just looking at the photo alone has “c’est si bon” written all over it. Calories be damned, I’d devour it quickly 🙂
A masterpiece I can not resist even on a diet. Yummirific!
Lychees, raspberries and roses? It looks and sounds like pure ambrosia, Madhu! This is such a fabulous shot, just look at the contrast between the bright red and the grey-green stone of the fountain… I can imagine it blown up in a foodie’s magazine!
Edible masterpiece indeed 🙂
Madhu, you photo of the dessert looks tempting and yummy. (I have had rice pudding that contained rose water. It was delicious.)
Thank you Judy. I don’t mind it, but prefer chocolate and fruit flavours. Or the cardamom and jaggery used in South India 🙂
Fabulous right down to the drop of water ! An edible Masterpiece !
There was even a little white chocolate disc with his name on it that I picked off to check if it was edible! 🙂
Those are custom made by great chocolatiers ! Was it just so good?
It was. But his chocolates weren’t the best I had tasted.
a masterpiece indeed Madhu … and to think we were at St Sulpice last September and did not find this delight … but next time we will!!!
You should 🙂 His shop is diagonally across the road at 72 Rue Bonaparte.
Wow! I would be afraid to eat it – it’s TOO beautiful!!!
It sure is. Just returned from your blog and am salivating over Polish food now 🙂
I guess we’re Even Steven! 😉
By the way – I haven’t been on WP in a while and just accidentally “unfollowed” you when trying to open up your blog link to read it! Please ignore your notifications if it reads I just followed you! You know I have been since Day 1! You’re a keeper! 🙂 🙂 🙂
This rose confection is (almost) too good to eat….we wouldn’t want to hurt the chef’s feelings by not tasting, would we? Lovely photo, Madhu!
My thoughts exactly! Thanks Elisa 🙂
It looks very sweet.
It was, but I have a sweet tooth, so that wasn’t a problem 🙂 Appreciate your visit and comment Rabirius.
I’m not a big fan of rose flavored desserts, but this one truly caught my attention. I even want to have one now! 🙂
Ha ha, your food posts have far more interesting and exotic things, Bama 🙂
Definitely, looks beautiful. love it.
Really, you have a great account.
Thank you 🙂
Temporary but a fine one! Thanks for your nice comments Madhu.
You are most welcome 🙂
It is a masterpiece indeed!
Thanks Shail. We – in India – don’t believe in prettying up our food do we? 🙂
A pity that we don’t!
It looks like a true masterpiece, but the taste?
Sublime, Ann Christine! 🙂
That is definitely a masterpiece, Madhu. It looks like it was heavenly. 🙂
Oh yes it was Cathy, absolutely heavenly 😉
They don’t remain masterpieces fr long, do they?
No, sadly they don’t 😦
Crunch, munch, crunch! There- it’s all gone! Wicked isn’t it? Got any more? 🙂
Too short lived a pleasure Jo. I remembered to click a picture before gobbling it down thankfully 🙂
This food is a work of art – I can almost smell the raspberries.
Feels special when it is a complete sensory experience doesn’t it? And worth the extra bucks 😀
Such yummy… 🙂
Absolutely Bams….as good as it looks 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
Could do with one of those to accompany my tea
Ah yes. Dreaming of relishing one with mine too 🙂
After binging on sweets for the past few weeks, I’ll give this one a pass, and just enjoy looking at it 🙂 Beautiful!
Thanks. And I wish I had your self control Kasturika 🙂
“Picasso of patissiers” – that’s a title, my father only was a bread-baker …
I didn’t see any humble bread loaves in this shop Frizz, just exotic, colourful creations 🙂
Just divine Madhu 🙂
I thought it was a remarkable creation too 🙂
Delicious 🙂
Very Dilip 🙂
Madhu, that’s a mischievous post (gosh, how your camera’s eye caresses it)… especially on a Sunday morning when cooking is the last thing on my mind (not eating though!)
Have fun!
Ha ha, I know the feeling, and I am sorry. But I couldn’t not share this one 🙂
Omg truly a masterpiece !!! 🙂 Its to die for! Thanks for sharing! Hv funnnn!!! will check it out when in paris next !!! and i like rose flavoured desserts;) Keep all d lovely Paris posts coming in 🙂

To pretty to eat. 🙂
Yes, but I have to confess it didn’t last very long 😀
I love this!! the photo is beautiful. and looks sooo sweet! http://holley4734.wordpress.com/
Thank you Holley 🙂
I would eat it, but very, very slowly savouring every moment of the flavour, scent and colour!
Oh yes, that is exactly how I savoured it Gilly 😀
Sometimes food seems too beautiful to eat! Thanks for pausing in admiration for the dessert so that you could photograph it! it looks wonderful rose flavors and all!
I usually forget to pause long enough for a photograph Lisa. I am afraid I have a number of massacred desserts on show from Paris. Glad i didn’t forget this one 🙂
A truly delectable masterpiece Madhu, I wouldn’t want to waste a crumb!
I didn’t. Wanted to return to the shop for another, but we were on a chocolatier/pattisserie hop for lunch (I know, at my age!!!), so there were more delights to sample yet 😀
Wow Madhu, how cruel of you to post this for those of us who can’t get to it!!! Looks fantastic!
I am sorry Tina. But you now know where to head as soon as you land in Paris 🙂
Looks interesting.
Tasted a bit more than interesting Colline, I can assure you 😀
You got my attention… well, you always do, but this time the sense of taste is involved too. Your description is something else! Do they ship abroad?!!!
🙂
Perhaps they do, but this particular one might not travel very well 🙂 Thank you for your kind and generous support Marina 🙂
Oh, this is a masterpiece alright!
Glad you agree Sue 😀
🙂
Thanks one for me please… 😉
Looks really delicious… 🙂
It was Ledrake! Wish there was some way of sending you one 🙂
Hmmmm..that sure looks delicious Madhu! Where is that teleport machine when you wants it? 😆
Great entry for the challenges hon! *hugs*
Thank you Sonel. Hope you found your teleporter and whizzed straight to Pierre Herme’s 🙂
Very pretty and delicate. 🙂 I wonder how a rose tastes like though.
Hard to describe Imelda. Like eating a scented leaf? 🙂 The cream had no edible bits of petal though.
Looks beautiful!
The taste was just as beautiful Suzie. Appreciate your visit and comment 🙂
Thank you!
My Goodness! I don’t think I could eat it – it’s just too beauitful!
Stunning isn’t it? Tasted just as fabulous believe me 😀
heh 🙂 Ephemeral art!
😀
That is …. just so right – love the red …. and I love the everything .. except like you .. the rose flavor, but things like this shouldn’t be eaten .. just look at. This is so Paris in my book. A masterpiece ..
But it tasted as good as it looked Viveka! Yes, this is so Paris. And what i love is that I can eat as many of these there and not gain an ounce. Here i would bloat just by looking at it!
I always lose weight too .. during holidays .. because we are always walking and moving about in a different way than at home – It’s such a WOW photo.
Glad you liked it … I only think it’s so sad to put a fork into it … just like cupcakes, I just admire their prettiness.
