I M Pei’s sparkling masterpiece of an entrance – albeit controversial – to an abode of exquisite masterpieces. It is said that of the 8 million average annual visitors to the Louvre, nearly 50% come for the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and the Pyramid!Until next time…happy travels no matter where life takes you.
Great capture!
Thank you. It was a sight to behold at night!
๐
This photo itself is a masterpiece, Madhu!
Flattered Ese!! Thank you so much ๐
Beautiful photo.
Thanks Colline ๐
Lovely photo Madhu – I’ve not seen it a night ๐
Thanks Suzanne. Hubby now agrees it was worth the long walk back after dinner ๐
Lovely click! Have a great time! ๐ lotsa luv!
Had a great time Divya, sore feet and all ๐
I think that is a breathtaking shot! Namaste….Anne
Thank you so much Anne. Namaste and have a great weekend ๐
Great to have you back, Madhu!!!! [and in a spectacular way too!]
Happy Friday, my dear!
๐ xxxx
Thank you Marina. Happy Friday to you too ๐
(Its a couple of hours into Saturday here….better go find my bed!)
Ih beautiful indeed – & I was thinking of all the fantastic places you’ve been and seen & photographied – what would you do! ๐ Beautiful. (& where have you been? Hope all is well)
In Paris ๐
Just didn’t find time to write a farewell post
Ah – how lovely, Paris in the – oh wait – it;s Summer. has it been hot there?
As hot as here!!! And they aren’t geared for the heat like we are ๐
oh dear!
I wish I’d thought to take a picture of this at night. It’s stunning. And I love that you focused on the masterpiece outside instead of the one most see inside. Good thinking!
It took considerable effort walking back there considering sunset is past 10.30 in summer! Hubby was very reluctant, but we were so glad we did make time. It was a full moon night and such a striking contrast to the chaos that surrounds the pyramid during working hours ๐
Exquisite shot of Peiโs glass pyramid. Welcome back, Madhu!
Thanks Amy ๐
Madhu, this is a fantastic shot. ๐ And I am very glad to see you again.
And I you Imelda ๐ Thank you so much.
Excellent capture!
Thank you Dina ๐
This is a true masterpiece of photo, Madhu … stunning photo. *smile
Ah, thank you Viveka ๐
Always a pleasure – fantastic photo.
I had missed your posts, Madhu – hope you’ve some special people pics coming up too
I do have a few ๐ And I missed you too Dallas.
your photo is a masterpiece too madhu!
Kind of you Christine ๐
I am happy too with the way this turned out. I usually mess up night shots since I don’t carry a tripod.
Beautiful. Paris? Nice!!
Just back from Paris Angeline. Meant to post a photo a day while I was there, but sunset past 10 30 pm wasn’t very conducive to blogging ๐
Eye catching shot, Madhu. Paris is beautiful (even in the heat). It’s always nice to travel but nice to be back, too. ๐
Thanks Lynne. Yes Paris was wonderful, but it does feel great to be back home ๐
This is the best photo I’ve ever seen of the pyramid!
What a lovely compliment Gilly! Thank you so much ๐
I don’t know how I feel about the juxtaposition of these two very diverse building styles, but they, and your photo, are all gorgeous.
janet
The juxtaposition seems to work much better at night, Janet. (I remembered the comma ๐ )
I think you’re right, Madhu, and congratulations on the comma! ๐ It was a gorgeous photo no matter what.
janet
Can only imagine it in reality! Spectacular shot!
Thank you. It is truly impressive all lit up at night. Seems larger too somehow!
yes, “it was worth the long walk back after dinner…” – perfect composition using the water as mirror! night shots fit your black website design – you are a designer 100%
Oh thank you so much Frizz! That means a lot coming from you.
Wish I didn’t mess up night shots as often as I do though. Too lazy to carry a tripod ๐
There are many photos of the pyramid out there, but I think this is one of the best!
Delighted that you think so Kat! It isn’t very often that my night shots turn out well ๐
Hey Madhu! Kat at Travelgardeneat reminded me of your Angkor post this spring when she saw my masterpiece post https://travelsandtrifles.wordpress.com/2013/07/26/weekly-challenge-masterpiece-the-temples-of-angkor/ . I had forgotten yours and she sent me a link to remind me. Loved it, and loved this one too!!!
Thank you Tina. Loved your post too. Your photos are stunning.
I dedicated separate posts to individual temples, even collaborating with a poet friend for Ta Phrom ๐
BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE! An awesome photograph.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Thank you Francine ๐
Beautiful. Lovely photo Madhu. Thanks.
Thank YOU for the visit and comment Dilip.
That is a spectacular shot,my jetsetting friend! I’ve missed you, and I’m big-time glad to have you light up my blog-world again!
Stay well…. stay lazy (this weekend)…
Lots of love
‘Big-time’ glad to be back blogging Meenakshi ๐ Missed you too.
Madhu, you have outdone yourself! This is a stunning photo–perfection in every way!
Overjoyed that you think so Naomi ๐ Thank you so much!
Stunning shot and entry Madhu and welcome back hon! Great to see your beautiful photo’s again. ๐ *hugs*
Thank YOU Sonel. Happy to be back ๐
Nice shot!

Thanks Niranjan ๐
Aaah! The Louvre! Spent all day inside this masterpiece! I’d have to say the night view is my preference as well! Stunning snapshot, Madhu! Welcome back! ๐
Thanks Zoe. I never seem to have enough time for the masterpieces inside ๐
Fabulous shot of this masterpiece, Madhu. I would love to see this for myself. ๐
Thank you Sylvia. I missed seeing it after dark on our last visit, so I made an extra effort to do it this time ๐
Excellent captured – I’m visiting this place for the same reason… ๐ ๐
Thank you. And I hope you will have time to see at least a few of the other great masterpieces Ledrake…..I much prefer the Vermeers to the Mona Lisa ๐
Gorgeous shot. I love the reflection.
Thank you! Happy to ‘meet’ you ๐
Stunning picture, Madhu! Does full justice to the title!
Means a lot coming from you Uday!! Thank you ๐
I love the Louvre. As much for its exterior as for its interior. Those pools outside which make you think people are wading waist high in water- exquisite place. Very few places I would rather be.
What can I say that hasn’t been said in the above? The perfect shot for the theme and one of your most dazzling. I’m still wondering what to do for my 65th later this year, and Paris just zoomed up the list. ๐
That is an amazing photograph! I have been to Paris numerous times, but only once to the Louvre. I love art as much as I love architecture, and the European cities really are masterpieces in their own right. Always amazing things to look at and be inspired by.
Wow, Madhu, what a sparkler!
Oh boy, oh boy, I have the same shot – quite the same and have been keeping it for a special occasion, and now you have beaten me to it :D. I am sure you had a wonderful trip, Madhu ๐ Wonderful example of a masterpiece!
Another great captured by Madhu… love it.. ๐
Good shot, Madhu!
Love the angle you chose to capture this architectural beauty. I think it is even more beautiful against the centuries’ old buildings surrounding it. Almost like a pristine pearl among diamonds or a white orchid among red roses.
Superb shot for the theme ๐
Excellent photo. Unfortunately, when we were in Paris in June, it was an overcast day. Raining. So we didn’t see this magnificent night shot.
I do love this pyramid, controversial as it is! I.M. Pei has always been one of my favourite architects. Growing up, I used to stare out my bedroom window at his Bank of China Tower. To this day I don’t think any of Hong Kong’s newer skyscrapers can beat it for its understated style and simplicity.
Seeing this makes me wish I made the effort to visit the Louvre at night. Next time…
It is a sight to behold. Sadly, I missed the night display but now I feel that I saw it too through your post. Thanks. Have a great day!
That’s a beautiful composition, Madhu! And in that light it is like an encrusted jewel – definitely a masterpiece.
Gorgeous photo Madhu. ๐
Have you been recently to Paris? I was there 3 weeks ago so maybe our paths crossed but the rivers of tourists didn’t let us see each other ๐
Beautiful city. I love it.
And great shot too!
a terrific shot Madhu…no wonder people come from all over to see this masterpiece
Stunning shot of this architectural jewel, Madhu – even better perhaps than the one (of yours) I’ve always thought of as the definitive pyramid shot. Controversy’s good for sales, eh? I wonder what people will be saying about the juxtaposition of the pyramid with the old buildings in another 60-100 years?
Stunning …. hard to imagine the beauty. It looks incredible.
Masterful ….
Great that nobody around, or did you shoo them away? ๐ Ow, it is so beautiful at night. We were there in the am, and the inside was closed for that day we went. ๐ฆ
beautiful ๐
It truly is beautiful.
Glorious!
Spectacular photo!
